Scott Dyer (3rd Dan)

Scott started karate at the age of nine, learning the Wado Ryu style. He transferred from his first club after about 18 months as he felt that he was not earning the grades he was being given.

He joined the Croydon Karate Club under the instruction of a close family friend , Mohammed ("Mo") Isthikhar 5th Dan.  Scott trained with Mo, sometimes up to three times a week and attended a number of summer courses in Tenby, Wales.

Having achieved his 1st kyu grading, Scott met Sensei Suzuki at one of his Winter training sessions and started to train with Sensei Suzuki shortly afterwards.

Scott achieved his 1st Dan grading with Sensei Suzuki in 2001 at the age of 14. He achieved his 2nd Dan grading in 2003 at the age of 16 whilst attending a summer training session in Spain.

Scott has competed in a number of UK and European competitions in Kata, Kumite and Tantodori. His most notable achievement was winning the 13-15 years WIKF UK Kumite title in 2001. He has won a number of medals in both Kata and Kumite.

Scott has recently become a senior and represented WIKF UK at the 2004 WIKF European championships in Kumite (individual and team) and Tantodori (in which he achieved 3rd place with Harseet Solanki).

Scott recently earned a silver medal in the Men's Team event at the WIKF UK Nationals in April with some spirited fighting.

Sadly, Scott cannot attend the dojo as much as he would like due to his degree course at Warwick University.  He is maintaining his interest in Karate by attending Shotokan classes.  In March 2006 he became KUGB Central Region Junior (18-20) Dan Grade Kumite Champion.  He still trains at the Honbu dojo when he is not at University.

In March, 2008 Scott  took 2nd place in the KUGB Central Region Adult Black belt section, a sterling performance.

Scott was awarded his 3rd Dan grade at the 2007 Winter Course at the age of 20 years.
