Kevin first started Karate in Wales in 1980, under the instruction of, the
then, UKKW Wales chief instructor and Welsh team coach Keith Thomas at his
Neath Wado Kai Dojo. Whilst training at Neath Kevin would train and grade
under Master Suzuki, and Sensei Shiomitsu, Sakagami, and Sugasawa. Later on
Kevin would assist Keith with lower grades, take the children's lessons, fight
in the Neath (A) team and Welsh national team in many national, international
and world championships.
After leaving Wales in 1988 Kevin moved to Kent to study. During this time he would
train at many different Dojos throughout Kent and London with such instructors
as Shiomitsu, and the England team coach Nieman Prince. Finally opening his
own Dojo with fellow instructor Steve Riddle, training a variety of students
from security personnel to an invite to teach the GURKA Regiment at Chatham
Barracks in Kent.
In 1998 whilst competing in Cyprus Kevin was invited by Master Suzuki to train
with him upon their return to London. Since then Kevin has been training with
Master Suzuki, and has had the opportunity to travel to Japan and train with
him, and other Japanese instructors.
Kevin now assists Master Suzuki at his Dojo in Croydon and many
courses throughout the country.
